Funding Options
Personal Budgets & Direct Payments
A personal budget is for your social care and support needs.
A direct payment is one way of managing these budgets, by giving you the money directly to purchase the agreed care and support you need rather than the council arranging it for you.
See link to Bolton council’s website providing info on Direct Payments: https://www.bolton.gov.uk/downloads/file/2802/a-quick-guide-to-direct-payments
Arranging a financial assessment - Individuals
If you think you, or someone you know, needs help to cope day-to-day, the first step is to get a needs assessment from your local council.
The needs assessment is free, and anyone can ask for one. Contact social services at your local council and ask for a needs assessment. You can call them or do it online via the following link: https://www.bolton.gov.uk/adult-social-care/care-act-care-support#:~:text=Contact,01204%20337860%20Bolton%20Council
Arranging a financial assessment - Carers
If you're a carer, you may be entitled to receive a personal budget after having a carer's assessment to see what might help make your life easier.
A Carer Personal Budget (also known as a Carer Direct Payment) is a sum of money paid by a council's Adult Social Care department to help to a carer to pay for things which will help them in their caring role. It allows a carer to have more control over how they are supported.
To get a personal budget you will have to have had a carer's assessment. A carer's assessment is free and anyone over 18 can ask for one.
See link to local Carer’s support website providing info on Carer’s assessments: https://www.bolton.gov.uk/help-carers/carers-information-services
Anyone in receipt of a Personal / Personal Health / Integrated Personal Budget or Direct Payments will be entitled to use these to cover the cost of services.
Where prospective clients are not already eligible for such financial support, Safe Haven Bolton may be able to with arranging a financial assessment with the local authority; OR options for payments / payment plans may be agreed with our team.
